Do I Need Planning Permission For A Shed?
my shed is more than 5 meters from my house and is under 3 meters high but is about 16 cubic meters volume but is less than 20 meters from the high way and less than a meter from my boundary , all of my neighbours sheds are not so large as mine but are also this distance from the highway and there boundarys. i live in the restormal area in cornwall

You seem to have done a bit of research or spoken to the Council judging by what you say in your question. It is just the bit about being less than 20 metres from the highway that I am struggling with. The 20 metre rule comes into play when the shed is to be closer to the highway than the house, i.e. in a front garden. Where this is to be the case then the shed has to be 20 metres or more back from that highway. In most domestic circumstances where the shed is to be sited in the back garden (not side though on a corner plot) and there is no highway at the bottom of the plot then this is not an issue.
The volume of the shed together with any other outbuildings in the garden (other sheds, summer houses, garages etc) must not cover more than 50% of the total garden area.
The only other things to watch out for are restrictive covenants on deeds or the removal of “permitted development” rights when your property was granted planning permission originally. Also, if the property is Listed or within a Conservation Area, the rules are different.

i wouldnt think you need planning permission for a shed, as it is not as big as a house and it is in your property, on which a house is alredy built.
i have been to get planning permission for a brick shed for my back garden and was told i didn’t need planning permission for any thing in my back garden unless its attached to your property eg conservatory, but it could be different for your council ,Hope this helps..

no you dont need planning permission unless you are in rented accomodation,if so you will have to ask your landlord,but if you own the property then no you dont need planning permission

If you are a council tenant, you will need there permission to erect a shed, but it should be just a minor formality…

contact your local council to be on the safe side, you never know. if you build one without permission, then someone complains and tells your council, you will have to take it down, if you don’t they will do it for you.
Generally no. but check to see if there are prohibitions against them. My son lives in a plat that does not allow any out buildings of any kind. Check first.
