Question About Growing Mangos?
![]() |
I want to try to grow a mango dwarf variety hydroponically. I’ve heard mango seeds readily germinate and are not too difficult to get going. Do I have to plant several of them so they can pollenate? Or can 1 plant yield fruit on its own? How long does it take for them to yield fruit, and how big of a pot do you think it will need at maturity (dwarf variety)?

Mango are self pollinating, so you only need one. I’m not sure how large a pot you’ll need, since even dwarf cultivars vary in size. They can start producing fruit in something like 2 to 4 years, once again depending on cultivar and conditions.
