What About A Landscaping Worker Using A Nearby Wooded Ravine To Relieve Himself?

It’s rather a delicate matter, but this has posed a real dilemma for me. It was not possible, for various reasons, including the preference of the landscaping company, for the workers to have access to my home to use toilet facilities. And they did not provide a port-a-potty of any sort. I asked what the men were supposed to do about this and was told that they knew to drive to a nearby location or back to the main office when they needed to use the bathroom. But one, in particular, did not. There are a number of houses nearby and children often play in that area (I’m pretty sure this was not a matter of urination alone, as he was absent for a longer period of time than that would presumably require!), so my gut feeling is that human waste should not be left there. But am I making too much of this? Just let it go?

Did the landscaper take a shovel with him? If he did then he might have taken care of part of the problem but of course not all the issues here. Your right about all the opinions and answer you got some great ones. I love answers also
I would be livid if I was in your shoes and would probably report the landscaping company to the labor board or health department, and fire the landscaping company for not approving and bringing in a portable toilet for the courtesy and convenience of their workers THEY employ.
It is and should not be your responsibility to see to it that the workers have access to your facilities.
It is an issue of personal privacy, an issue involving the health department, as well as the safety of children in the nearby area. It does not set a good example for any children who may witness this situation.
We’re not on a camping trip here…just a group of men trying to do their job!
Sometimes when you gotta go…you gotta go…there’s no stopping it!
unless you saw this landscaper guy taking a poo inthe woods, then leave it alone. he may have been on his cell phone and walked away from the group for a private conversation. Or he may have had “stage fright” and that’s what took him so long …
… or maybe he knew you were watching him and he just wanted to freak you out!
And human waste in the woods is no worse that animal waste, is it? Surely the kids that play there are old enough to know NOT to play in the poo?
Lighten up, you’re taking this all too seriously.
First of all, there’s a chance the man was taking a smoke break or lunch break. If not, read on.
You need to contact the landscaping company with a letter cc’d to the labor board and health commission. State what happened, that it is unacceptable and you want to see this company required to provide porta potties for its employees.
If you are offended by this call the landscaping company, they should take care of the matter. It is better that you take care of it before one of your neighbors calls the police for indecent exposure.
when you got to go you got to go…. try driving a truck over the road… you do not want to know how that business is taken care of a lot of the time… that company is in violation of some law for sure if they do not provide for that necessity… if The crew is more than just a lawn service that comes in and is gone in no time… otherwise they are to provide portable toilets in most areas I know of…. you are correct in that they should not be given acces to homes… too many are not all that honest… many companies hire only “part time” workers with little background checking……if the worker did not take a shovel with him and did leave a “deposit” you should notify the company…
if it bothers you that much, give the poor ravine pooper some toilet paper and ask that he use a shovel. im sure landscapers have access to one.
Let it go. He already did, you should too.
yea man if they did numbah 2 go snitch i would make such a big fuss over numbah one tho
Look, when nature calls, you do what you have to do…
