What Do I Need To Make My Pond Safe For Goldfish?
I have a pond in my garden which was originally a water feature but I broke the pump accidentally. I would love to have a couple of goldfish in it instead. How deep does it have to be? What plants would be suitable? If it attracted frogs would they harm the fish? Would there be any special water requirements? Finally what sort of fish would be best? It is quite small but bigger than a normal fish tank.

as for depth shallow is fine remember the larger the fish the more space they require for goldfish up to 8 inches long you figure one per every gallon and a half water space…as long as you have some type of air filtration large goldfish should do just fine in a small pond.. frogs will not harm them remember to purchase fish food and feed them once daily
I’m in the Midwest mine had to be 5feet for over wintering of my Koi. Where ever you live is should be at least that much to guard from predators. frog are OK, aquatic plants, and KIO are the only I have, but you cannot mix Kio and regular gold fish, because of the bacteria (that’s what I was told at the pond farm) Good Luck
