You don’t need planning permission for wooden structures, they’re classed as temporary buildings.

The first thing is that sheds are NOT classed as temporary buildings. If the intention is to leave it there permanently then it is by definition a permanent structure.
The rules changed on domestic permitted development as from 1st October this year. Go to:
    http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2001/20012718.htm
for the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) (No 2) Order 2008. Go to page 6 and Class E. This gives the precise restrictions on what outbuildings you can put up without planning permission.
Just while I have the chance to mention it – why do the Americans chip in on questions on the UK Answers site. Their rules are totally different to ours. I am convinced that their system is based on the size of the backhander to a city official in any case.

The shed will classed as a non permanent building put it depends on where you live, where you intend to put the shed and if it is attached to a buildin g especaially if the building is listed.
The planning office will tell you over the phone.

Before you take advice from Yahooligans, contact your local city council first. They make the local building codes.
Normally, a shed your size should be OK. But if you build a foundation or add water/electricity to the shed, you will need a permit.

  4. Garden Hoe says:

No but you may need permission to build if you have a neighborhood association or live in a condo or other close constructed building.

If your rear garden is only 3.6m by 2.4 m I would advise against having a shed at all.
